Forgetten Nation part II: Mthimkhulu II - Dlomo II
Ngwazindlovu kaBhungane II as the Heir apparent took over his father's kingdom in 1800, whiles Mpangazitha was Chief of AmaHlubi in another territory. Upon ascending to the Throne he became King Mthimkhulu II. Like his father, he became renowned in herbal medicine and rainmaking.
The Hlubi prospered due to this with even Kings like Sobhuza I consulting him, and being one of the few nations not to have been in conflict with the Zulu Kingdom or its predecessor the Mthethwa Confederation. Mthimkhulu was caught in a war between the AmaNgwane and AmaZulu. A war started between AmaNgwane and AmaHlubi, which resulted in the death of King Mthimkhulu. Mpangazitha united His House and his brother's house in order to avenge his brother, thus ruling as King from 1818.
Upon King Mpangazitha's death in 1825, their brother Prince Marhwanqa took over as regent, he sought refuge with AmaNgwe near the Phongolo River and raised his brother, Mthimkhulu II's sons, Dlomo II and Langibalele I. Upon coming of Age, Dlomo II sought to take his birthright as King of Amahlubi, which resulted in a power struggle in the Amahlubi, as Marhwanqa was reluctant to give up power to his brother's heir. This resulted in Marhwanqa being killed by his soldiers in revolt as they recognised Dlomo II as the King.
King Dlomo II's ascent in 1839 and his reign was short as his declaration of Hlubi sovereignty to the neighbouring Zulu Kingdom of King Dingane in the Royal Courts of Umgugundlovu, Dingane's capital led to Dingane executing him. These events lead to the end of a diplomatic relationship between the Hlubi and Zulu, and the rise of Mtetwa kaMthimkhulu II, his younger brother to the Throne. Mtetwa later became King Langalibalele I. (think of Game of Thrones, Ned Stark and his older brother Brandon Stark.)
